I am a UKCP and HCPC registered psychotherapist offering individual psychoanalysis and psychotherapy in central Bristol. An opportunity to speak freely in a safe and secure environment.

What is psychoanalysis?

There are many reason why people come to therapy. Some of these reasons can be thought of in similar terms or categories, but the details are always particular and personal. These may be, for example, issues around relationships, or problems with anxiety, depression or trauma. Or perhaps a desire to explore contradictory expectations or patterns of behaviour - understanding better who, or how, we are.

Psychoanalysis offers an alternative approach to mainstream interventions in addressing these things, not seeking simple explanations or pathologies but  facilitating understanding of how the defining aspects of our lives relate to each other, bringing to light that which is not yet discernible, as well as looking at how they exist within the wider social context.

The sessions are weekly, or more frequent, and last for 50 minutes.

Some of the broader issues that may be dealt with include:

•Anxiety

•Bereavement

•Depression

•Low self-esteem

•Psychosis

•Gender identity

•Sex and relationship problems

•Self-harm

•Trauma
